AD(H)D Treatment
My Treatment Philosophy
People come to me seeking help to overcome the overwhelming challenges that affect their daily lives. Often, they seek me out after they have tried every other solution that they already know about. I use my psychological and medical training, education and experience to accurately evaluate their condition. Then, I work with them to develop a comprehensive plan. My analysis of their condition and recommendation for treatment can usually be accomplished in two meetings.
The conditions I treat are disorders of attention, and they often have both psychological and medical components. They all have a neuro-physiological basis, but many symptoms can be compensated for by technique alone. The evaluation I perform (or a recent assessment from another professional) can indicate the benefit of medication. If I prescribe medication, my decision is based on the demonstrated likelihood of a chemical deficiency in my patient, our understanding of the ultimate goal, the possible benefits of the medication and its side effects.
When I work with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)patients, acceptance of their problem sets the stage for their empowerment. My overall goal is to help each individual evolve coping methods that will enable them to be successful. Once firmly in place, these coping methods can be used throughout the patient’s lifetime.
Psychiatric and ADD/ADHD Treatment
Board certified separately in child and adult psychiatry, I have devoted my career to treating many, if not most, psychiatric disorders. Today, I specialize in treating ADD and ADHD. Sometimes patients come to me who believe that they have ADD/ADHD, but they, in fact, do not. Because of my medical background and varied psychiatric experience, I can properly diagnose and treat many conditions.
Except when indicated, I prefer to meet with my patients weekly for two weeks, and then transition to longer intervals, determined by the success of our efforts.
I have found this to be the most effective and cost efficient pathway toward success. I attempt to return all phone calls expediently, either by phone or by text.
If you would like to get started on your pathway to success, please complete the Adult Application form or Child Application form found on this website and e-mail it to me at: DrFreed@Thecenterforattention.org.
Then, use this website to schedule an initial 30 minute telephone consultation so that we can develop a plan to begin your treatment process.
I look forward to working with you.
